Personally, they don't seem like the best thing for me 'cause I use Grey Ghost headphones (and Grey Ghost phones are VERY quiet & comfortable), so hearing the "call" tone is gonna be mega-muffed... but we picked up a set anyway.

i've used the exact model while surveying land.
made contact over 2 miles away
maybe try using some small earphones like cobra ect..you'll still hear everything from both sides
