The best friend of gold ring seekers is....

the pulltab!

Find out why, in my latest podcast (internet radio show you can listen to anytime).  Also, a brief discussion of keeping a coin log.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

By the way, that gold ring I mentioned in the podcast (

)  was lost in June, 1986. I found it in July, 2003.

For 17 years it was right there, just two inches deep, in the middle of a public park full of pulltabs.

I would love to know how many treasure hunters skipped right over it in those 17 years. Some of them discriminated out pulltabs so they did not get any signal. Others got a beep and looked at their meter and said, "Pulltab - forget it."

I found a 1916 walking Liberty quarter in great condition in a town square park in a small town.
