Osmium is one of the heaviest metals around and would weigh less then a pound. Can you recheck the weight.

Osmium is 22.57 grams per cubic centimeter, 1 cubic inch = 16.387064 cc; 369.85603448g/cc = 13.0462877 ounces

Looks like the end of a Solder Bar to me.   Lead 60% Zinc 40%.

Same shape, and oxidation .

Thanks for the reply guys after researching both osmium and a solder bar ,my luck its a solder bar ,Osmium is the rarest of metals in the platnium family 100.00 dollars a gram I AM NOT that LUCKY LOL ... The sinc or other composit makes my meter read the 40 along with the lead making it so heavy ,Now I know what a solder bar is and osmium leaned somthing new today

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
