I'm looking at getting my wife and grandkids an ace150, tesoro compadre, how good are these 2. also how good are the low end fishers and bounty hunters. cost is a factor, i would like to stay under 200.00 .

Tesoro Compadre is an excellent machine.....especially if she doesn't feel wed to a visual display (and you can't beat the lifetime warranty).   The Garrett Ace 150 and the Fisher F2 would also be good choices.    (Teknetics and Bounty Hunter are both made by the same people as make the Fisher, so you might as well look at them too).   And don't forget to check out the White's Coinmaster also.  It's in your price range and White's has a good reputation.   Stick to those major brands and you'll be fine, even at the low end.

  Hello hunter
I think it's really good to get the family into MDing  Detecting
I don't know if you have your heart set on buying a brand new machine,or maybe a slightly used unit.
You can somtimes get a good deal on the mid range detectors for the same amount that you would pay for a new beginners unit.
I know some people don't like to buy used or even purchase off e-bay but it's something to consider if you have a limited buget.
If you do plan on going with a new unit then check out the units that BA has listed. All of these units  would probley fit your bill

Good luck in your search....  Great

If she doesn't, you'll find several takers here.  Smiley
I hope you have as much fun hunting with her as I have hunting with my wife (even when she turns up better stuff than I do).

Yup there ya go Hunter.I'm thinking you made a good move to go with the compadre.
Easy to use machine starting out, just got to get use to what it's telling you.Plus she should be able to swing it all day long. Then how could you beat the Tesoro life warranty?
A great unit that everyone will have fun with I'm sure.

Like BA said,if she does not like it then you can sell it off and I know of at least one member that would be interested in taking of your hands.  Wink
Also I know that the Tesoro line holds their value very well....
I wish ya all luck with the new machine and also with the hunt....  Great
