Ideal Digging Tool

Hay MI,

I do not use a blade type. I went from a diggin trawls
to screw drivers when I could pin point better. But a
screw will not scoop dirt, so I have to get my hands in
tha hole. So I made my own design. I have made two.
One out of a 15" Craftsman 15" long 1/2" breaker bar.
The other was a 15 inch long 1/2" ratchet

So I got about 10,000 words worth of pics for you
and any one else who may be interested in an
improvement on tha big screw driver method of
recovery.

If you can pin point real well,

this one actually scoops dirt and rocks out of tha hole,
so if you got an electronic pin pointer, all ya have ta
stick in tha small hole is tha digger and tha probe in
order to recover a target.

Just need a few more details, as follows:

 - Overall length of completed digger.
- Length of blade section (tip to grind blend-out).
- Used the handle-end of the Craftsman tool, to form
the blade .
- Brand of dip did you use for the diggin tool handle and approx.
how many coats did it take ? (Assume one container was enough.)

First off,

Remember to leave a rounded knob on tha other
end to make tha end of tha handle more rounded
for comfort.



The over all finished length is about 12". About tha
same as tha Fiskars digger.



The "length of blade section (tip to grind blend-out)"?

That is hard to say?

Try using this photograph as a reference,



Tha handle is about 5" long,



And yes, the handle of tha ratchet becomes tha
blade of tha digger.

Tha Craftsman makes a 1/16" wider blade because
tha handle is flatter,





But in actual use, I found that makes no difference.

I got this 15" ratchet at a pawn shop for $4.



After three solid hours of grindin, I had it roughed out,

Remember ta keep dunkin it in water ta keep it cool !

tha blade,



Here is tha plastic dip I used,



A can is 6 or 7 dollars, and will do a digger, plus a few
other tools. But tha digger takes several coats. Just
keep re-coating until tha handle seems big enough.

It's very durable. Both tha digger and tha handle
coating.

It will handle the toughest dirt.

It will dig as hard as you can.

To get better penetration, you need
to use a hammar and chisel or a pick
or something like that.

This tool will pry out rocks. It will
penetrate where a cutting type digger
will have a harder time.

This type steel is tha best for stringth
and durability of any metal I have found.

If you throw it, point first onto concrete
as hard as you can, it will just bairly dent
it. Not enough to resharpen. I know because
I did just that. I have hammered rocks with
it. It hardly ever needs to be sharpened.

I am 250 pounds. I stuck tha tip in a crack
on a rock wall and hung by it.

It excells in "TOUGH".

police in the uk take a dim view on carrying around a nice bit of kit like that , i'm all for self protection if you mess with someone you should be prepared to get the same in return and some more, i often get approached by twats and they dont understand the meaning of piss off so you have to be on ur guard when you got headphones on you dont always know who's craping up on you

nice that should get the point over, over here you cant carry a knife with a blade length longer than 3" so carrying a shooter would get you a few years at her majestys pleasure , don't think they have outlawed carrying a spade in public yet , can they fine you for intent to dig a hole !!!!!!!!!
