Go Up Go Down

I found a Merc dime (1942) a couple weeks ago and 2 1919 pennies last week at the same park.  I spent 6? hrs with a friend and he found a 1912 Barber dime.  I plan to go back and put the smaller coil on by Whites M6 and work the area thoroughly and slowly.  The Barber dime was on the side of a steep gully and must have washed down there over the years from an old picnic area above.  I would assume this park has been detected quite a bit.

Some nice coins found there.  Go get'em, they are not hunted out by a long shot.

Generally, the top of a slope and down the side, coins can be found as well as jewelery.  Some good pocket spills can be produced here.  Under old, ancient looking trees are excellent spots.  If you knew where a band/circus/ whatever used to be there, go for that spot.

Hope that you turn up with some more goodies!! Wink

Hi Greg, great to hear that you've been finding some old coins. It's a nice feeling to find one that you know others have missed. Smiley I flipped out a barber dime, about 1/2 inch deep, by a tree at the front of an old park - had to wonder if no one ever thought to search the outside perimeter. Saw some Indian heads right on the surface, under a tree, after a heavy rain at the backside of the same park. Suppose it's not as low profile or relaxing to detect near the streets so most people detect deep inside the park. Sue

Dont pass up any old Baseball filelds either, found lots of good things(coins and rings), specially in left field. Must be more right handed batters than left. Learn to read the area.... good luck.... DW
