We can understand Greece and its total ban on detecting. The likes of Germany I belive you need to be licensed even to own a detector.
I think here in the UK we have it cushy but for how long?

| G Day Advent, I think France have some confussing rules, Spain are OK I think. Ireland have some ruls but I'm not too sure of their guide lines, and around the gulf states it can be a problem, I know of some people from Treasure Hunting Mag have been to Jordan but I think you must seek special permission, I do have Julian Evan-Harts write ups on those trips

G day to you also. Now were talking France has some loverly historical sites and that I understand detecting there is a hit or miss affair, however as far as I can make out its a no no unless you have written permission. Failure to gain permission to detect can lead to a fine and confication of all equipment used.
Now Spain is funny it seems to depend where you go here I am referring to beach detecting, some beaches your fine to detect yet others its a no no.
Ireland has a total ban on metal detecting as far as I am aware. I visted Northern Ireland last year and did not see any metal deteorists at all on those loverly fields over there.
Keep them coming lads.....
