Hello Jay,

be very carefull! In many of the mentioned countries metal detecting is strictly forbidden and you may end up in jail doing so! No Kidding! This is at least the case of Turkey (very very strict!!!), Greece and some parts of Italy. Beaches in Italy, Spain and Croatia shoudl be allright and other parts in these countries.

Regards,

Christian

Well, I've heared some real nightmare storries from Turkey and most recent press news was that the government is focusing on a full ban of metal detector in Turkey. A German tourist ended up in jail some years ago for taking a ceramic splinter with him in his suitcase. The splinter had been found by his son on the beach possibly from a crushed Amphore. The case made it huge in the German newspapers and the father was released after the invetion of several members of the German congress. To be honest I would really avoid Turkey as far as metal detecting goes. I think it is safer to hunt in countries like Iraq or Pakistan rather than Turkey. But that's only my two cents.

Please keep us posted about your journey and finds.

Have a great trip and best wishes,

Christian
