Brian,

OK, I was on my Huh? beer. Ha ha, I knew I should have checked the spelling on that one.  Have been hunting here all my life in N.M. and have never seen one of the Collared (collard) lizards until this year.  Now I have seen enough to make up for the years I never did!  Metal inspector and Goldigger here is what I found the last time out. A Collard Green Lizard (Collared) This little guy was not happy with us hunting by his territory.

ironman;

That was a dirty Irish...er.... uh.... Swiss trick!

I blew that sucker up until all I could see was pine needles! Finally, I figured he is going to have to move, before I can spot him! FAINT HOPE!

Wrong picture, he says. hmmmmm

That is very definitely a collar, Ive seen a lot of lizards called /collared/ with just a coloured ring... no collar. Some parts of the world, these guys get big and mean! Club

Spell checkers are pretty good, I kind of had some brains scrambled in 1976, and it screwed up my spelling... sometimes I get a real strange spell on a word, but the checker finds it.

I have my computer set on US English, but I mostly spell Canadian, like honour, colour, centre, and so on... it has fits, when I do that. Funny

Maybe he would have lead you to gold? He could of spoke and you would have never known, and then you would see it in the news in the next year.  The title "Hiker Is Lead To Gold By Speaking Collared Lizard".  Catchy, eh?

You never know about them fellers, just got to watch'em.  Like Leprechauns, they are!!

metal inspector;

Leprechaun gold is just trouble, you get some of that and they pester you forever, trying to get it back! It should be called /leverite/..... if you find it, leverite there! Funny

Anyway, the lizard could whisper all he wants, I probably could not hear him for the loss in the upper range of my hearing! I suppose I could listen with an inner ear, or ask him to dowse a bit.... watch and see where he goes, after I ask. Idea

Ha!! Leverite there, now that is catchy. Grin Grin It is a good thing that the Collared lizards don't have a policy like the leprechauns.  They just ask that you give them road side assistance, hast they need it. Grin Grin They prefer Geico.

Don't worry, he'll yell loud enough for you to hear.  He can be awful loud if he needs to be. Funny

Hey, MI! Did you go to those links I posted here for you? One of them looks to be exactly what you need.

Yes, the Railroad Maps Collection looks like a very nice place.  In fact, they all are very decent sites.  Thanks for posting them.  I haven't had exactly a lot of time to look at them yet, but I'm looking at a few that I haven't now.

The railroad maps were the one I thought would be the most useful. The Library of Congress is one of America's greatest treasures.
