Quick question, can you get a dealer to let you borrow or field test a unit?? I want to try some of these out but don't want to buy them to try them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Stir things up here I will.....

Has anyone every read a BAD test report on a Metal Detector?.

I honestly know they are metal detectors out there totaly useless in comparison
to other types.
Yet these poor detectors get a good Field Test Report.....
A Marketing ploy me thinks.

If you are referring to magazines, bad field tests don't often happen because no manufacturer would send their worst performing model for review. Here, on this very forum, you will see lots of bad reviews.

Magazines do rely on advertising revenue so I can see where your comment about marketing comes into the discussion. The real fact is that models which are poor performers are usually dropped right away from a product line without ever getting a review. If they even make it to the production line. Failed prototypes litter the storerooms of detector  manufacturers.
