For some reason Gold chains are stealth like.

I think it has to do with them being made up ufs multiple links?

May cancel the Eddy currents some how.

Most machines have problems with them.

If you take a wire and form a ring out of it , it will not be detected as well as if it was open ended.

Gold rings you would think would be the same way but I think the width has something to do with it.   Idiot

Hay Out Back,

I used to have a Cibola.

I have had;

Cibola, Silver Sabre uMax, Eldorado, two Euro Sabres,
Vaquero and two Compadres.

I have five Tesoros right now.

There is nothing wrong with tha chain or tha Cibola.  I
love tha Cibola.

You tuned out tha gold chain.

That is just tha way it is.

The Cibola is reported by Tesoro Inc. to have an ED180
discriminator.

That means that it should pick up small nails and bolts.

That is not completely true. It will pick them up if they
are presented in a certain way.

If presented in another way, they will not be picked up by
tha Cibola.

What does this mean?

It means that the Cibola has about an ED160 discriminator.

The Vaquero also has about a ED160 discriminator also.

The Silver Sabre uMax has a ED120 as reported by
Tesoro, Inc.

The Eldorado, Euro Sabre and the Compadre all have a
true ED180.

<><><><><><><><><><>

Response has to do with total conductivity of  a
target, or sometimes targets.

There for, a large iron object has a lot of over all
conductivity, and can respond as copper or silver.

Also, a very small piece of gold does not have much
over all conductivity, and can respond as iron.

So, like I said, "you tuned out tha gold chain".

This all depends on what machine you are swinging,
and how you use it.

Hope that makes sense,

Tabdog

Apart from the fact that the ED180 disc circiut would indeed do better, the detector can only see ONE link of chains.

So it would be worth trying with a smaller coil.

Small gold demands (begs) for smaller coils.

Hay Beachcomber,

You are certianly right about tha small coil.
The stock coil on tha Cibola does not respond
near as well to small gold as tha 5.75" or tha
4" coild.

I like tha 5.75". It is a real good coil.

You are right to some degree about tha ED180.

There are some small gold objects that the
true ED180 will respond that the Cibola will not.

But, on the other hand the Cibola can respond
to very tiny gold objects.

Also the Cibola gets much better depth on small
gold objects in general than do the Eldorado, Euro
Sabre or Compadre.

The operating frequency, and tha HOT circutry give
the Cibola and Vaquero real good depth on small
gold items.

I find the true ED180 is better at handleing iron.

If I'm cherry picking, I like tha ED120.

But the Eldorado can respond to gold that is
surrounded by iron.

The Compadre and Euro Sabre can also.

But they are all different.

I like using them.

They are much the same. So I do not have
a learning curve.

They are different, for different applications.

So I would not say one is better than the other.

It is like saying one brand is better. We know
that is a matter of prefference for our need.

Any way,

I forgot what I satrted out talkin about now.

Gettin old can be confusing, Huh?

Well, that is interestin.

Could you show us a phpto if you still have access?

Also, what coil did you use.

I found some really small stuff with my Cibola.

I continue to find real small stuff with my Vaquero,

Which is tha same as a Cibola, but tha V has Manual GB.

I never use tha stock coil.

I just use tha 5.75" concentric.

If I go deep, it is with a 12"X10".

It is so heavy, I seldom use it.

Just qurious,

Tabdog
