Looks like that I will stick to the PI for the water, and perhaps get an MXT to replace the DFX.
There was one for sale s/h on eBay with 3 coils for $799.00AU.
When the sports come out it maybe even less.

Well the MXT has a red hot prospecting mode and I have a mate who took one out in to the Red Gold fields and the Ground reading was between 92 to 94 and he did find some Gold, Don't believe all that rubbish in the Video, Because I am going to do a Video Showing just how much better the MXT is which blows their Test/Video out of the water, Ok,

J

Hey RidgeRunner,
That MXT sounds pretty impressive to me & I know you love those machines. I think that probably would hit deeper there on some of the older vintage English & AU silver & Gold coinage, yes?

my older Fisher M-Scope doesn't do too bad, and at dual freq. of 5 & 15 KHz, she seems to hit fairly good depths, but not as good or solid of an indication as your MXT pro's get I suspect, but still for an older machine, pretty good for me here in the states. (I attached an air-test video and an in-ground dig video, that some guys did on the Youtube channel, just to show the similarity)

I think that those fishers about the best series of machines they ever made, In fact I was really P****d when they stopped making them because the info that they give you was way ahead of their time and the Gold machine was a work of Art, and their new flagship the F-75 is on it's 6th or 7th circuit board because they had big EMI troubles where as the CZ-70 was a peach.  Great

thanks for posting them,

j

I agree on the Fishers, and I also agree with you that those Test with the MXT you mentioned. It's pretty obvious they're aimed at trying to show the MXT doesn't measure up to the others in the test's they showed.
(They also picked the MXT to compare to for a reason, it proves it's the one to beat but I don't think they can)

From everything you've posted, and all the research in the field about the MXT, that machine is at about the "Pinnacle Top" of the detector technology today! The MXT Rules in almost every setting including prospecting.  Great

Cheers,
Jim

Don't get me wrong I have no doubt that the MX-Sport is a Great Machine, But I just don't agree with how the Test was done, I believe that they should have picked ONE coil and used it on all 3 machines because using 3 different coils is not a balanced Comparison, You can not compare a concentric coil to a DD because a Concentric can get 1 and a third to 1 and a half times its width In Depth where as a DD is normal flat out getting the depth of its own width and Please Note that a Concentric Normally see's coin at 1 and a 3rd of the coils width In Depth 90% of the time but some times you will see them go deeper. As Some people have seen my Test with the Nail and the coin the MXT can see the coin and forget the Nail from Both Direction instead of just sweeping one way like they did in the Video. and In my View The MXT is the better machine,

Here's a picture of my mates bike out in the area where he found Gold and this Red Dirt even drove his GPX Nuts with the junk, Hot Rocks and Hot Pockets in the Ground

Using the MXT he managed to weed out the junk and hot rocks and still find some Gold, In this Area his Ground Readings were between 92 and 94 which is about as high as ground can get, So if anyone  is having doubts about the MXT just take a look at this Area,

J

Hey J, I hear you on that...that ground out there looks very "hot", so for the MXT to be able to "calm it down" testifies to the extra capability of the MXT.  Great

BTW, your mates ON-Off road bike sure looks nice. I'd like to get one someday, and that would be "awesome" trekking around the UK or OZ, have to pack a good tent and cookware set and the detectors and hit the outback someday, but I think I'd also like a Jeep coming along to hold all our stuff.
 Wink

Cheers,
Jim

Since Minelab built the SDC2300, Converted minesweeper finding small gold in OZ is getting harder and using a VLF is a tough job, Even the TDI SL had to be modded to suit the Ground conditions and that's a PI machine, So for a VLF to work out in the Bad Lands it has to be something special,
