Go Up Go Down

Had the MXT with the 10 DD out for a spin today. The threshold tone was fairly noisy. Had to crank the gain back considerably. Still  getting dimes at 5" or so. Also noticed when i got within 20 feet or so from my house the interference went nutso. I suspect it was from the Frontier Uverse signal. I haven't used the DD much but never saw that with the standard 950 loop. Something I also noticed using the DD was my Pistol probe PI pin pointer caused the MXT to go loco when transmitting. Never saw that on any other loops ......... Only think i like so far on this loop; is the weight...........

My Thinking is you have a Shield issue.  Check the coil connector for a loose solder joint or damaged wire.

Yeah you got a crook coil, My DD's run fine in the house and I can run the gain flat out in the standard relic mode and at about 10 +2 in any other mode, I prefer the 14x10 detech DD because it goes a few inches deeper than the 10" DD and it is lighter and because of where it mounts on the lower shaft it balances better so it is  better all round really,

Hope that helps.

J

My first thought was the shield connection. Gave the loop some standard raps and didn't hear any change. Wiggled the cable at the loop and detector ends with no change. The shield might be open as opposed to intermittent. I noticed if the threshold is set to low as it will go the machine gets a bit unstable at max sensitivity. Anyhow put on the 300 coil and the threshold tone is fairly stable up to the default mark. Trouble with that coil is the weight. 2 carpal and 4 trigger operations so doesn't take much to kill the wrist.

Put Check the Pins on the Housing and see if they have a case of GICK.  Clean both and try again.  Put a new connector if you have to.  If the Ground is messed up in the coil housing sometimes you can get them open without Killing em.
