When my kids were 16, I couldn't get them to touch the weed eater for anything. Should have tried this one. "Hey kids. Guess what? There's an 1868 treasure site under those weeds. Go whack them first and grab my detector!"

My 11 year old is getting more and more interested. I just got to get a newer better metal detector so he can have my old one. We have been swapping up up digging trying to cover more ground. We have working islands in the river and the water will be coming up in winter and we will lose those spots so we have got to work them in the heat while we can.

lol just read the post i went back there 3 times since i last said anything on here.  i went back there to make a video to put on utube and went through the whole house every room took 6 mins. i turned the camera off cause the owner came up on the 4 wheeler and i turned it off to talk to her and then asked the owner for the locks off the old doors and i got them and headed back and the movie was ruined because i didnt give the camera time to save it before i turned it off.AAAARGH buy the way havent gone bacxk there with minelab yeat.  i was planing going the day after i posted this with my dector.  thats why there was a hurry. by the way there is a basement dont understand why i need a magnometer though?  the floors are all still in it and standing except for kithen. it fell into basement.  srry no treasure or gold. by the way i live in kentucky.  i will either wait till first freeze or weedeat it all but this place is huge.  ill scan the locks to show detail.  by the way i will keep mu all posted and i hope this place is as good as u all are hoping.  planning on being more active on here.  by the way i would be intersteded in this new boutyhunter product. lol

Weed eat it all? That's ambitious.

Just use it as a gridding method. Do a small 20 yard by 20 yard area and hunt that very carefully. When finished, do another. If I were you, I'd wait for your next school break and then go back staying on site with camping gear. As long as the owner didn't mind. Also, finding a hunting buddy you trust would be helpful. Do you return to school after Labor Day?

Most likely because of their salvage value. Some of them were hand cut crystal. Is the place to be torn down or restored?
