Subject is Ivy.  If you want to go to ticks please Start another Thread.  Nasty Critters they are.  We have them here but chickens in the yard does away with them.  I have three dogs and No Ticks.  People down the Road have them all over there dogs.

Ivy, Sumach and Oak Kick my butt.  Only thing I've ever found to works was Baking Soda, Calcimine let it dry and rub it off.  It takes away the Oils that mess with you.    As I said before, the crap burning can Kill you.  Like Blister Gas.

LOL - In the words of that wise man, Yoda, "There is no try. Only do."

The best I have found for poison ivy, oak or sumac, is warm (not hot) oatmeal. Apply gently, let it cool and then dry if you have the time. Do not eat the oatmeal later. Just carefully remove it and let it breathe in open air for a while. One time application is all it takes. Not for me. I only get a brief rash but my children suffered when they were younger. The oatmeal treatment was perfect for my overeager boy scouts and girl scouts.

That hairy vine picture GD reminds me of a a vine I removed from a Elm tree (yep, still living Elm in CT) that was about 50 feet long and 1 3/4" in diameter. Used a bow saw.

I know. I removed at least a dozen bittersweet vines over here in Mansfield. Man, that's hard work.

i was talking to a groundsman in our public park, while we were talking i thought of this thread, so i asked him if the council had removed any PI.
he remarked that he only knew of it appearing once, that was at another park (thornes park wakefield) which is about 13 miles from me, it was growing on an old hawthorn tree, he said there was only one vine like shoot growing round the tree, and they removed it along with 3 inces of soil up to two yards out in a radius from the tree, the whole lot was incinerated.
apparently that got rid of it, but the hawthorn died that year, so disturbing the roots or some application put on killed the tree, its taken really seriously, the most frightening thing is they reckon it was deliberately seeded or planted.
what kind of whack job would do that?.
