Go Up Go Down

I have a pin pointer and it REALLY comes in handy when I dig and use the screen to sift out my target (coins).  However, I read the various comments on this website to find that apparently there are some pinpointers that are much better than mine.. The one I have (major manufacturer) is able to pinpoint metal items but only if they are within a 1/4" to approximately 1" away. Apparently there are some that can penetrate soil much better. I am looking for recommendations for pinpointers that can be used for very short range detectors (6" or so).  Any recommendations or comments? price range? etc.  thanks, Coloma Gold

Don't know of any manufactured units that will do coins at 6".....

You can build one.

Two inches would be about as deep as a pinpointer will go unless you build something.

Homefire,

Any suggestions on brands/models?? If I could get one that would go to 2", it would be really helpful in those holes that I dig. This is particularly true now that I am trying to figure out the 'targeting feature' of my VX3 which is not as accurate as my DFX (at least until I work with it to figure it out). Thanks, Coloma Gold

I have the White's Bulls Eye ll 120 mm, sometimes it seems larger objects can be detected deeper but not much thats just what I've experienced.
I do like my pin pointer I think it works well and saves me some time.
Hope this helps,  Lips Sealed

I use a modified Centech with a depth of about 1.5 inches on a quarter.

Garrett Pro pointer is the best.  If the object is large the pointer will see it at 2 inch. You wont be disappointed with the Pro.

Greetings coloma gold, while I use a Vibraprobe (I got a great deal), which is nice because it is waterproof and silent,
I know that most of the more experienced members of my Treasure Hunting club use the Garrett Pro Pointer and like it very much.
I also have a hunting buddy who uses a modified pinpointer for additional sensitivity, I will ping him for information.
HH Robroy59
p.s. I use the Sunray probe that comes with the Minelab Explorer II, because it has greater range than my Vibraprobe.
Then I switch the Vibraprobe for the up close and personal search for the treasure (1/2" to 1 1/2" range).
