Go Up Go Down

This was my dads machine and was given to me when I was just a boy.
Being this was my first machine and the one my dad showed me the ropes on I'm bummed that after all that time and use it goes down now.I guess from it's age  it has served well.
Yesterday evening I took it out to a nearby field that I had been hunting for some time,I turned her on and adjusted and started out about 10 feet then I heard a loud chirp and she went dead. The meter still works and it is detecting but just with no sound. Thumbs Down
I can not find the manual for troubleshooting on this unit.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before ? and if so what's the deal?

Thank you in advance.....

Attached is a schematic for your detector. If you haven't got the skills to fix it, you can take it to almost any technician to repair your machine.

Wow!  I'm sure I answered this post the other day.

Have you checked the Audio batteries?

Could even be the head phone jack, Tweaked.

Thank you Homefire for the suggestions. You may have answered this question the other day but not from my post. And to tell the truth I did not check the search for this question from earlier post. Shame
I have a local already looking her over and he's pretty sure it's the speaker unit itself causing the problem, should know for sure tonight.
I thank the ones that responded to my post and lended me a helping hand  Great

Hi Steveo, If you plan on keeping the detector it might not be a bad idea to send it back to whites and let them go through it. I sent my old 6000D in and had it checked & tuned. They went through it and put a protective coating on the coil. If I remember right it was around $100.

Hey Jere
Well first my neighbor is sure he can fix it.He been working on all kinds of electronics for years and he seems very sure of hisself.I found no other problems with this unit so far and I have used it off and on for some time now.If I or he finds that a tune up is in order then I will contact White's.
Thank you again Jere for the helping hand  Great

That probably won't help you much as far as repairing it. You need the schematic I posted for that.
