Here's a stranger-than-fiction story about sunken treasure.

In 1857, a ship loaded with millions of dollars worth of gold from the California Gold Rush sank, killing 430 passengers and crew members. End of story?  No.

Because in 1980, a guy from Ohio decided to search for the ship. He collected a lot of money from investors, and after several years of work, he found the ship and pulled millions of dollars worth of gold from it.

Then it gets interesting.  Seems he took all the money and ran, leaving his employees and his investors behind.  And he took his secretary (also his mistress) with him.

Here's the whole sordid story.

Nope!  They found where he was living 3 months ago, but he was gone when they got there.  He's still on the run with his sweetie!

This is a Old Story.  The Courts just confirmed the Investors claims.  My bet is he is on some Island you can purchase for more then a Equitable Price in the Philippines or South East Asia.   All you need after that is a small army to keep it.  Or he's Floating on a Barge saying to him self, What ta ell did I do.

Its strange that a Man spends so long working so hard for years and then throws it all away and all that knowledge with it,

Thanks Dan Great post, AU

Just go and live in a country Like Senegal or Ghana and no one will ever find you unless you start building a mansion and driving a Ferrari around. Cops from France go there on a regular basis looking for fugitives but the hardly ever get one back I got this info from a Senegalese detective .
