Chris you need to use the search at the top right of page. We can't tell you what to buy we don't know what kind of soil, locations, etc that you hunt in. So search the forum search the internet and find what will work best for you.

Seldom

Hi Chris ,

I am located in SE U.K. and soil is clay low mineral.  I have the XPGold Max Power Metal Detector Treasure Hunting V4 cip and find this to have a great recovery speed in trash areas but only have Iron discrimination but also picks up large iron on ploughed fields.  The XP machines not a machine for Salt water if you?re looking at beach hunting. The difference between the V3 and V4 CHIP is they have changed some of the audio levels and sounds to make this clearer but depth is the same so I understand. The gold max power had an improved depth over the gold max but depth is not every thing as I usually set my level from 12 o?clock for sensitivity other wise you get false signals. It takes some getting used to the sounds so keep with it and take some coins with you as a reminder on what good find should sound like.
It is sensitive to foil and very small objects so need a pin pointer is a must

Cheers

This is interesting in that the most useful reply would probably have come sooner if the question where asked something more like this.

I am from Bwahaha county in Southern Moomanland. Can anyone advise me as to the best detector for coins and jewelry for my area?

Blue427 answered him quite well. Thank you for that. Your reply was perfect. Asking in this manner is far better than having us try to extract more details post by post and still not have the direct experience with the area. Well done Blue427 and thank you for bringing this suggestion into my thoughts.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
