This may sound like a dumb question to those that know but I don't so I'm asking it anyway.
My wife has some old jewelry that we recently took to a jeweler to see what they would offer us for it.
One item we previously had appraised at approx.$2000.
It is a gold ring with one larger diamond and I believe 6 smaller diamonds[chips]
The jeweler did not want to pay anything for the diamonds set in the ring he was only interested in the gold band.
Yes they are real diamonds, just thought I would throw that out before you ask.
Now when you look at one of his rings he has for sale the diamonds are no longer called chips they are called smaller diamond...same thing that is in your ring except he refers to yours as CHIPS.
Question is,in order to get top dollar for your jewelry would it be wise to remove the diamonds and sell the gold and diamonds separatly. Is the gold band more valuable as is or is it worth more melted down.

I plan on finding hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry this spring and I need your help so that I can get top dollar
for all the riches I'm going to find.LOL !!!!!

                  Regards

                                  V-burgh

Sell them as jewelry on eBay. Spot gold is good right now but so is the price of jewelry.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
