Fisher F2. White's GMZ
« on: January 13, 2012, 01:55:27 pm »
Go Up Go Down

Hello all! I really need some advice. I recently purchased a White's GMZ for nugget shooting (although I have yet to find gold with it). I also have a Fisher F2 that I use for coinshooting and relic hunting. I have been really impressed with the new Fisher Gold Bug reviews and adspeak and it seems like a great do-it-all detector. I have the GMZ and F2 for sale with the thought of buying a new Gold Bug. I know the GMZ (50khz) will pick up a tiny lead shot that wont even register 1 grain on my digital scale. I also like the though of having one detector that i can prospect with as well as coinshoot but will I be giving up alot of sensitivity with the gold bug due to the lower frequency (19khz)? Will the features of the gold bug be worth the possible lower sensitivity on tiny gold? I havent found any reports that state how small a nugget the gold bug will find. If it will pick up 2-3 grainers, I should be ok as there is mostly small nuggets here in socal. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

Like cars and trucks there is NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL.

Your GMZ is made to do what it does best.

19Khz is good for gram size gold and jewlery for sure but just not going to find the Gnat Poop gold the GMZ can.

Thanks for the response. Thats why i was a little nervous about getting rid of the GMZ. Is it correct to assume that on gram size pieces i will getter better depth on the GMZ than on 4 grain pieces?

60Khz will not go as deep as the 19Khz.

Coil size, Ground conditions and your ground bal all come to play.

Understood homefire, I was just verifying that with the 50khz GMZ (6" X 10" DD elliptical Goldmaster coil), I will hit a 1 gram nugget deeper than a 2 grain nugget, correct? With the gold bug i would give up sensitivity for depth, I guess. Thanks again for your replies! Smiley

I don't know that for a fact but I would think so.

The GMZ is the better gold machine.
