I have an Ace 250 detector. What advantage, if any, would I get by replacing the search coil with a garrett DD coil? Or is there a better option?

Gerry

DD coils can handle mineralized soil a bit better then a Concentric coil.

The DD coil has a wider Coverage field then the deepest part of the concentric coil.

There just another version of the DD type.  Sort of a Compromise between Concentric and DD.

I was lucky enough to find one for sale on another forum.  It should be here in a few days.  I've heard TONS of good things about the DD configuration.  I live in Western PA, we have a lot of different types of soil, lots of mineralization depending on where your searching.  I hope it helps me get a little deeper as well.  I have permission to hunt an old church that was established in the early 1800's..  Any pointers working with the new coil would be appreciated.  BTW.. First Post on this site.  Thanks for having me along.

Your going to find Pin Pointing a new thing.

Remember that song by Weird Al,  Every thing you know is WRONG!

They are hot down the full length of the center line .   From Front Edge to Heel.
