Do you use all them bells and whistles on you metal detector? Or are they just a sales gimmick?

I use the bells and whistles, but I tend to ignore the graphics (except where they supplement the bells and whistles as a strength of signal indicator----in other words, I'd do just as well with an analog read-out).....

So in your opinion an LCD is of no particular advantage?

I have never found the read out for depth to be of any help. I had a Tesoro Silver around here for several weeks a friend had and let me try it out. I had more fun with it then any 1000 dollar detector I have used. 2 knobs 1 9v batt and go.

I find the enhancements on my digital camera much more reliable and easier to understand and use than the "enhancements" on most detectors

Because I don't fully trust my ears (combination of possible tone deafness and the beginnings of hearing loss), I do like having a way of verifying relative strength of signal.....but for that an analog meter works as well as does a digital display.......but if I had to choose to do without the audio or without the visual cues, I'd keep the audio and get rid of the visual everytime.
