It is not too complicated... I repaired an old set with a tiny 8 ohm speaker, seems to match the other one, OK, but ideally you want to replace both, so they match. If the wiring is OK, just wire in, in place of the old unit.

If you start from scratch, like with a pair of safety, ear covers, you will need a way to keep the sound units inside the ear cover, just wing it. You might like to cover the speaker with thin film plastic to keep ear oil off of it. Plastic diaphragm spkr??

You have oily ears? Good grief, Goldigger. That's just too much information, mate.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

speaker

Nasty, nasty!  Shocked

Just think about it. Most small speakers have a paper diaphragm so any slight amount of perspiration and/or skin oil (everyone has it mate, look at your hat band,) will cause the paper to distort, so a vapour barrier is advisable. Otherwise, look for plastic cones.
