Go Up Go Down

Hi all.
I'm new to this sight, not sure how to navigate to all the parts yet. I have been given an old Micronta 3001 that is malfunctioning. As soon as I put batteries in it the tone comes on and no matter how I adjust it continues to stay the same. The sensitivity needle pins over to 10 and again no amount of adjusting changes that. Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks..........  LP

Could be so many things. a broken wire or a bad solder joint it could even be power related. Best would be to open it up and have a look inside never know what you may find (See)

Welcome from Arizona.
Xavier is one of the many hands on the inside of the detector types we have, so start with what he says.   And if Homefire or GoldDigger1950 pop in and give their two cents, pay attention.
Normally, I'd move this post over to

You have a Oldie there for sure.

When you put the Batteries in Is the Unit Turned Off?

Does that one have the Red Button?   If so it needs to be Pressed before it will Tune.

Hoping this Helps.   And Yes, this belongs in the Repair Board.

Hi Chilliwack! I'm on the west coast, 50 miles north of Port Hardy. if you Google BC lighthouses you'll find me at the top of the list (only because they are alphabetical) I used to play in a band out of the north been to you town a lot, fond memories........ LP

Hi Homefire, nope no red button, just an off position on the volume knob. It does make a difference putting the batteries in with the volume off, now the gain has some effect on the tone, but it still sounds no matter if it's over metal or not. I tried some standard Government worker tricks on it ( tapping, slapping and kicking) with no change, guess I'll try taking it apart like Xavier suggested........... LP

Hello
I've been to Port Hardy but no further north. nice country up that way, maybe some day I will make it back up. Do they let you get away from time to time?
