Heavy Duty Aircraft Alloy Large Capacity Scoop for Metal Detecting Sand Beaches In or Out of Water

Howie is the VP of our local Treasure Hunters Club. He runs a metal fabrication shop, and he decided to make his own water scoop to get what he really wanted. He and his wife showed up at a club meeting with his product, and it created quite a stir. Responding to the clamor of his club-mates, he put together a few more for club members, and I got mine, I'm very glad to say. It took a couple of months, but I managed to talk him into letting me sell them to the general public. Since theN I've been selling them just about as fast as Howie can make 'em.

This guy is well qualified to design a great water scoop. He won our "Best Gold" contest four months so far this year...and that's not easy in our club...we have several members who are full-time veteran water hunters.

This scoop is made rugged to survive in the water, yet it weighs only 3lbs, 10oz., that's what I love about it. The last SS scoop I had weighed over 7 pounds. Another friend tells me his SS scoop with the wood handle weighs 8 pounds.

If you shoot some foam into the handle of this scoop, it will float, and you don't have to oil it and it won't ever get splinters and you won't ever have to replace it with a new stick. There is a drain hole through the bottom of the brace.

The basket holes are 9/16"; pulltabs that falls through 5/8" holes do not fall through this scoop. The basket is 12" long and a little over 6" wide. The bed of the scoop is 6" deep at the entrance to the basket section. The handle is 40" long. The point is sharp, so it can work through rocks better than rounded scoops. There are no bolts or projections on the back and the brace makes a comfortable kickplate to put your foot on.

Howie's skillfully executed Tig welds are stronger than the original metal sheet. The aircraft alloy aluminum is tough and resilient; it will not fracture the way those cheap beach scoops do that are sold by some online retailers. The basket is 1/8" thick, while the plate where the handle attaches to the basket is 3/8" thick. The tube is 1.250" diameter aluminum, which is very sturdy indeed.

Try it out for a couple of weeks. If you don't like it, send it back for a refund of the purchase price. But I'm not worried; I think they will have to pry this scoop from your cold, dead hands to get it away from you. The more I've used it, the more I appreciate how well it works.

Check out what these buyers had to say about the scoops they received:

"Tell Howie, Thanks for the wonderful Scoop. This is what I call Great USA Made Quality Craftsmanship. I'm more than happy....Great Work Howie ! Now tell HOWIE to get back to making more of these, there are folks out there that would love to have a detector scoop of this quality."

My first thought is that the scoop is a bit pricey but then I looked closely at the workmanship. It's a bargain!

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

My guess is that Howie either found a big treasure, then bought a farm and moved away, or he just plain bought the farm. Undecided

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
