http://www.metdet.ru/Sensor_20.htm

It talks about a specific detector but the principal is the same. Teach
A lot of pictures, data and how to make  info.
Google will translate from Russian. You may have to read the text two or three times (as I did) before you understand it but its grade.
You will need to follow the links in Russian and then translate or the link it maybe not work.
Have fun
Nickel

Hi X,
Put the site name into google search, and you'll see a little tab that says "Translate" (it's actually very, very good!)

Thanks Nickel. Nice info. The Google translation, thanks to Paul, was decent too. I have always used faraday shelding in my home brew loops (all three of them  Grin) but this model does not use one and in fact recommends against it. Will have to study it a bit.

Jim

Shielding is used once you reach a certain frequency (will have to look it up for you) but below that frequency shielding is useless in fact it affects the performance of the detector. The shielding is however recommended if you are going to use the detector near or under power lines.
