This detector ring a bell? Anybody ever seen it or even used it? As far as I'm concerned, it is a vintage metal detector.  However, it works just perfect.  It just needs a new battery, and it can be taken out to be put to use.

I don't have no clue about this vintage metal detector.  It only has two dials.  The dial to the right is the volume dial.  And, the dial to the left is.....well, I don't know.  It just goes from 1 to 10.  I just assumed it was sensitivity or discrimination.

Anyways, it is someone I have met a couple of days ago and they are a person willing to learn how to detect.  This detector they bought, was bought new at a auction.  They used it last winter, and found a nickel and a 1923 penny.

Anybody have suggestions?

I have a old jetco detector its blue, has only one knob. I am currently trying to turn it into a pinpointer, no luck so far. Have made several different coils but haven't gotten it to work yet. LOL maybe I broke it.

this is an old BFO detector, got four of them each one a different model,I can still remember when they were new,the mustang was the lowest price model, the treasure hawk was the top of the line.one knob sets the oscillation and the other was on off  sensitivity.they were unstable and had to be constantly tuned and had a depth of about 2 inch on a penny and very little more on anything else.although I once found a coffee can lid at 5 inches.I still have these old machines keep them to remind me of the good old days. by yourself a newer detector,I have found them at garage sales for as little as $10.00(a bounty hunter pioneer 2002) its one thousand times better than the jet co
the blue one is a mustang, made by jetco back in 1975,and you can never make anything out of one, required a 6inch search coil, get yourself a stud--nail finder at harbor freight, they are only a couple of dollars and work fine for what you need

Wow!  The Jetco GTO Searchmaster was my very first metal detector that I bought about 1969!  Jetco was a Texas company.  My school friend and I caught the treasure hunting bug about the same time and we worked a variety of odd jobs until we could afford to buy us each a metal detector.  Mine was the Searchmaster and his was the Mustang.  I've owned many detectors in the last 40 years but I found more silver coins with that detector than I have with any other.  My first find was a silver war nickel at the foot of the outdoor stairs to my grandparents' house.  After that I moved over to where my parents had parked their cars for many years.  I hunted until it was too dark to see and came up with a full handful of coins, several silver.  Needless to say, I was hooked on metal detecting.  I googled for a photo of one like mine but only came up with a later model that was gray in color while mine was blue.

I got my first detector back in 1974,it was the mustang a blue one,I found 159 penny's in my neighbors yard 90 were wheat penny's,I used it in a park and found a 1899 nickle and a 10k class ring from Roseburg-- I later used it in a roadside pull over spot, found three mercury dimes, I was hooked, I still metal detect, I have over 20 of them that are from the old days,I have some newer ones now also,my tesoro is the best I ever had so far--- the silver is not around as much now so I am going to learn to dive and try my luck at under water detecting I know of some good lakes

they really did not come with a manual,it was a leaflet that explained how to turn it on and set the oscillation and a simple how to use it as a discriminator, about  one sentence long, I lost mine right after I purchased the machine, took about three minutes to read
