Can anyone with plenty of detector experience tell me what old or new detector would be good to use for long periods of time (light weight and balanced well) with good discrimination, pinpointing and depth for gold and silver coins? I might be asking for too much in a detector, but there should be a few out there that might work well.

And would you like fries with that LOL Yeah you asking a lot from one machine. First what kind of hunting are you planing on doing most and a price range would help us point you in the right direction. Most detectors are pretty lightweight now days so that not going to be a problem.

I plan to use it around old houses, some older parks, and fields/pastures that had human activity many years ago. I might even consider nugget hunting someday. The price range is $250-$400.

I was leaning toward Tesoro. Someone I talked to today might have a Bandido II u max he is willing to sell to me. I believe it has never been used. Any idea if it would be a great one to have and what it is worth?

I agree....I think a Tesoro would be my first choice with the Garrett 250 as my second.
