My entry here is primarily to do research in metal detector circuits so I can design my own.

If you're talking about the emoticons available in posting, they are easily disabled.  At the top center of the main page is a button labled "User Controls". Click on that and then click on "Look and Layout Options".  Change the "Current Smiley Set" from "Forum/Board Default" to "No Smileys" and you shouldn't be burdened by those pesky critters again.

Hi:

Thanks! I find those things distracting and kind of dumb.

Cheers

Murray

One that works, mate. There are dozens out there that don't. Unfortunately, not all of them have been built and verified. You can read about success stories here and base your choice on those that are reported to have been built and work.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

What type of detector do you want to build for VLF or PI?

I am interested in builing a VLF type eg gold bug standard, is anything like that available that has been built and proven to work - but no PIC chips ?

Oh...The VLF schematic would need to have a PCB or Vero board design..

Hi Farmview

Forget the Vero board unless you want to do prototyping you will need a proper PCB if you want to do the job with out problems as for the VLF schem you should have a look in the download area and see what?s right for you then we will take it from there. I am busy with a VLF design of my own but am not quite done with it yet or I could have posted it to you as it is relatively simple to build it?s the coil that?s a bit of a problem to make as it has a bucking coil and if you do not have it just right it will not work properly.

Regards Xavier
