Ne567! They are still using those? The time constant RC values were temp and voltage fluctuations would cause the decoder to drift off frequency. Used to use those in home made DTMF decoders.

where you see there PLL guys. that is vintage technology, forgotten long time ago, real static non-motion. there is not PLL.
in my opinion chinese took some japan detector and copied. i do not see similarites of this schematic with US manufacturing.
something specific.

Go Up Go Down

Hi going back to the topic I have to say that is going to be a big help NE555 THANKS  Clapp
The schematic seems to be the actual model mention here with all the same IC's
Can I ask the origin you got it from?
Now I can follow the system if I can print it and it comes out clear enough with all the notes and values
At the moment this far the unit is detecting able to be used
but to get the full power of sensitivity like a small 1 gram Gold nugget you have to press the re-tune button
all the time to get the ultimate power and detects the nugget but after pressing it fades very quickly up to the point of
Gold Ring or Silver Ring when you press re-tune detects about 9 to 10 inches the goes down to 4 to five inches
And Gold Nugget does not get detected until you press re-tune and detects for one second or two
If it could hold automatically like it should with out pressing re-tune for a while it would be OK
Because it's a non-motion detector the ultimate starting sound or threshold tuning point could slowly fade slowly
and eventually you have to press the re-tune button maybe every five minutes or so like this units are meant to be?
Like the old Garrett Marksman non motion detector with only manual tuning made before the ADS Deepseeker
with auto and Manual tuning but of course the quality in every way is non comparable with this Seben
I have being checking before the schematic arrived thanks again a lot of the capacitors looking for a Faulty dying one
Seems to be the most logical culprit with the symptoms it has threshold drifting way too fast
At the moment I could hand it over back to my friend and he will detect the Coins etc but knowing that he could be
detecting a lot deeper and smaller items like it originally did at least when I first used it a few years ago
I will give it another go now that I can see what's going on with the apparently true schematic?
Thanks to all for following this topic

I see a Sample and hold a few times in the schematic.  Replace the Cap with a quality one.

Hi regarding my photo I'm kind of busy but there is no need really because 100 percent it's the same board
and model 5002 same IC's transistors the whole lot with the green case and it has the Seben website sticker on it
Most of the components have being checked or replaced now IC's -Transistors-Diodes and Capacitors
The unit detects really well but you loose a lot of depth and sensitivity when the tune dies down
I'm not surprised people say is a very unstable unit that sometimes it detects well and other times it's hard to
detect anything unless is very big obviously they have very low quality control But that's another dilemma
The problem is the Re-tune system if you can't hear the slight threshold sound you are loosing a lot of power
They should have added another pot with sensitivity gain control But again when you get this unit new they
usually hold the tune at least for a while but who knows how long they last working properly?

As a last result I don't know what components the Coil might have and it could be the culprit
like it might have a Capacitor dying or faulty causing this symptom I will never know until we Try another Coil
Cheers

guys,

this man Ron has Bara (not DIY unit). can you ask him in his email to share pics of the board? you know - my english is too poor to ask
something while your one is perfect. sorry for offtop here. thanking in advance.

 Hi Anotoli,
Here is my email if you could scan a copy of the manual that would be great. Good luck restoring yours. I really like this machine. Regards,
