if you don't have the protel easyedit program, what else can you use to view the pcb to print it out. I would like to give this design a go and make it into a pinpointer, as I have been looking everywhere and doing everyting to make or get one. thanks.

File Ext shows ACCEL or Protel Printed Circuit Board File,  if you find the right software, let me know

Take a look at the one I posted using an untuned coil and an LM565 IC, you might find it by searching for the word Kraus. I put up the original circuit drawing and my additions in another drawing, plus a .txt file of parts for my version.

It is the simplest I ever saw, and is a phase detector, not BFO as the originator listed it, in an old article in Pop-Tronics.

Yup! I seem to have gotten two .txt,s and only one iis the correct one but I can not find how to remove stuff once on the system to uploaded.... Goldigger1950 says there is a delete button but not on my end!  Violent

Anyway, this jpeg is of an improved version of the original article, it has a diode bridge to insure the meter and piezo beeper get the proper polarity voltage.... unfortunately, I can not find the original article text, but it is simple... the coil provides a phase change which the PLL tracks and gives a voltage change as indication. The voltage is fed to one transistor and a *reference voltage*, that is stable, to the other transistor... this forms a bridge across which the meter and the piezo are connected.  Wise

If I uploaded  the wrong txt.... guess I will have to fix it.  Funny

homefire;

Some of those are not so simple and others are repeated several times, but I made a PDF of the whole bunch.... 2.5 mbytes! I will look at them off the forum.
