HI Doldigger ...I am from downunder aswell ..do you use the garrett xl500 sea hunter Pi
and how do you find it in the wet sand...Also have you used it for nugget hunting ...cheers

Well, I've never buried it in wet sand so finding it is never an issue. Ok. Just kidding.

It's a PI machine so the wet sand and salt water don't have any effect on performance. I can get a reading at 50cm on a 20c piece and 20cm or so on a small gold ring. Deeper on larger rings but if you know the ocean, rings don't stay big long due to wave action.

I have used it for nugget hunting in the US but not here in Australia. Since I use it in the water, I don't worry about how fast the reaction time is but on land, it's just too slow to react for easy pinpointing. There are much better machines out there for nugget hunting.
