Go Up Go Down

hey guys,

Just looking around for some home built machines that actually seem to work exceptionally well for the purpose they were built, without the usual hype & camera tricks that sometimes enter in to these interesting videos.

So I've come across this detector that seems to be a well built & tweaked hybrid, one that actually appears to see through iron and pick up the Gold & Silver targets were really after like it has X-Ray vision, so watch the video and tell me your thoughts..."The General"

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMvHrq2DAGY" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMvHrq2DAGY</a>

I guess this is what many of us actually would like to get from our detectors, and I'll bet this thing has manual adjustable ground mineral rejection as well, and would be the bomb for beach hunting. (The above ground test's looked good, but wonder if this thing would also perform as good with the same buried objects test...)

So either this is a wild & very hot home-brew machine, or am I missing something here?

Cheers,  Great
Jim

No Info on the Detector.

and the detector still picked the signal up, while the iron was still knocked out.

Maybe you just overlooked it, but it's there on the video!

I guess some of the purpose of the post was to address the issues of masking effects...I actually understand and see that these test are no big wonder as other good quality detectors can also do the same thing & have the same results!

Cheers eh,
Jim

My MXTs will do that I just tried the same tests, and the hardest test for a machine is when you have the coin at 6 o'clock
to the nail and sweep over it with a DD coil they hate that test ,

And outback is right the Tesoro's will do it also because that was the first machine I ever saw do that.

Jim if you make the detector not see the Iron and then put something else there you are increasing the mass
so then it starts to pick stuff up again, that was a trick they used to sell detector over here in the 90s, and that machine
must be running between 6.5khz and 7.5khz because that is the same coil that is on the Whites Eagle II SL 90

Hello homefire,

Whats the purpose of the post?
lol, some of the purpose was to infact see if anyone was familiar with this home made detector and the video, in hopes that they may have gained some additional information or facts about the detector since the video was posted originally. My intent was also to see replies and the thoughts about what is happening in the test as shown, and I expected to hopefully get some feedback about it.

No Circuit plans?
I guess that might be of interest to some guys that may build there own detectors, but I don't have any expertise or experience on building such things as I'm sure most people on any metal detecting forum wouldn't, other than a small select group of members here & there. So how or why would I add that to this thread?  I would have added that info if I saw or had it for sure.

I agree homefire, other detectors on the market can do that, but then again there are detectors on the market that can not perform those test as shown with the same results, as well as some that are said to be able to & can't.
(That's part of the point of this post as well)

If I did something wrong by posting the thread, I'm sorry & delete it if you wish...I simply thought it would be food for thought and would generate some technical answers about the possible makeup of the machine and the test as performed.

I guess it's easy to read past what I had said or was getting at in the OT above, but I also knew that these test looked funny and common, so why then was the video made to make it appear that this detector could do something out of the ordinary, and that was exactly the reactions I was looking for and peoples thoughts!

Cheers,
Jim

Hi RidgeRunner,
I'm not here wondering how the detector in the video can do that at all, as you mentioned it's done today by more than a few good quality detectors and that was part of what points I was making, in addition to others.

Sadly for some, there detectors don't have those same results if they performed these same test.

Part of my reason for the post was also to generate discussion about Target Masking, and to see thoughts about that...

Thanks guys, and trust me I can't wait to get the MXT...
Jim
