I am new to the site and have done most of my detecting in AZ. I now live near Outer Banks, NC. What is a good surf detector, that won't break the bank? Smiley

If you are looking for a commercial machine, I have heard positive comments about the Tiger Shark (VLF) and Sand Shark (PI) detectors made by Tesoro.  Both are suitable for the beach or underwater.  The Tiger Shark is reported to have better sensitivity for small gold (nuggets) - this coming from prospectors that have run both units in fresh water to scan bedrock while dredging.  If you are just looking for a beach/surf machine for coins/jewelry/relics, the Sand Shark will save you a few bucks and should perform as well as the Tiger Shark or other dive-type units.  Check 'em out...

Anyone have good set of plans or kit for a detector that would work for scuba?
