Valuable "Free" US Army Uniforms, Weapons, and Accoutrements Reference

(1/1)

BitburgAggie_7377:

Hello All,

While researching an insignia that one of my partners unearthed today, I stumbled across an excellent 130 page PDF file that is available to download courtesy of the US Army.

Survey of US Army Uniforms, Weapons and Accoutrements by David Cole covers the period from the American Revolution through 2007 when the paper/book was published. There are a great many colored illustrations from the Army's collection.

      To quote the author's introduction:
"The Survey of U.S. Army Uniforms, Weapons and Accoutrements is an expanded version
of the classes on uniforms, field equipment and small arm given at the Basic Curatorial
Methods Training Course held at the U.S. Army Medical Museum, Fort Sam Houston,
Texas in August 2007.
The purpose of this study is to provide a quick reference for the identification of the basic
uniforms, accoutrements and small arms used by the American soldier from the period of
the American Revolution to the operations in Iraq and Afghanistan all in one source,
rather than in seven or eight different books or websites. "
