Go Up Go Down

Hi,
There's a used Minelab XT17000 for sale near me for $400. Sounds a little high for used/older gear but I imagine I could haggle a little.
From what I've read these were the bees knees in their day for gold sniffing. Does anyone know how this would compare to a modern mid-level machine such as the supertraq or goldbug II? Just trying to get an idea of wether I should go and take a look at it or spend an extra couple of hundred and get a new machine.

Thanks for any input,
Paul

Don't jump on it until you contact Minelab.

They stopped servicing some of there older machines.

For the price you could have a used Gold bug for about that.

I really don't know that machine.

It may Rock but they discontinued it for a reason.

Minelab SD2100V2, Eureka Gold, XT17000 - Fisher Gemini III

I still have my XT17000 and keep it for a backup machine, just about as good as the Minelab Eureka I have but not as good as the Minelab SD2100v2.

I wouldn't pay more than $300 for it as that is the average going rate for a good condition XT17000.

Runs 2 seperate freqencies for small stuff and larger nuggets. Doesn't have any discrimination, which is typical of gold machines. Minelab stopped making it because they came out with a new model not because there was anything wrong with it, still a solid machine. I would use it over a Gold Bug, which I've owned as well, any day.

The XT17000 is a good choice to start out with and keep as a backup when you decide to upgrade later on, or if you decide the hobby is not for you, sell it and not be out much.

Miles

Well, the XT17000 has been reposted again. Down to $325 now. I might have to go offer $300  Great
Just bought a 4X4 GMC Jimmy this evening. Needs a motor, so I'll be spending some time at pick n pull this weekend.
TGSL is coming along nicely. One coil down, one to go (will post pics soon).
All is looking splendid, I should be ready for an adventure by... winter Sad

I'd best put some snow tires on the Jimmy. Maybe a snow blower on the front of the MD.
