Hi everyone

I was sent an email while i was away on Counterfeit Minelab Detectors.

The high demand for quality Minelab gold detectors has seen an increasing number of poor performing counterfeit products being sold via websites and black market dealers around the world.

It is obvious that these companies are now targeting other manufacturers as well, Coiltek are also victims of this practice.

They're not exact copies at all but they use the word Minelab in their descriptions. To anyone who has been even casually associated in this hobby, it's a no brainer. To anyone new to the hobby, they look and perform like junk.

Hi

I found another interesting piece of helpful information.

Reading some of the articles on the Fake Minelabs - the specifications are way unbelievable, here is a example......

Fake from China:

Minelab GPX 4500

Max Depth: 5 meters

it's obvious that it's marketed towards deception.

I spoke to Minelab Australia yesterday, the person i spoke to in conversation mentioned - " These Fake units wouldn't be possible if our product was still built in Australia and not Malaysia ".

So thinking about that conversation, the Malaysian Company have Rat's, selling Minelab spec's and Diagrams.

In conversation with the same person i asked when the new Version was due out, his response " Don't know really Don't care, we are told nothing anymore since our company was bought out. Your guess is as good as mine, I am bound to Confidentiality of course, so i'm zipped on the matter"

By the above it got me thinking.

I Hope Minelab product's Quality remains.

regards

CSharp

Seems like a lot of companies go down hill after farming out the manufacturing.  Sad
Westinghouse Electric for one.

Here's a few more bits of info to think about:

Minelab products used to be made in Ireland also.
The move to shift manufacturing from Ireland to Malaysia started in 2009.
I've been seeing flagship "Minelab" detectors advertised in alibaba.com at prices way below normal retail since late 2007. The sellers were either in mainland China or Indonesia.
