Minelab E-Trac,Tesoro Cibola

Go Up Go Down

Here is some settings i use.
I have a Minelab Mode saved in Conductive.
This setup is the coins mode,Note here. There are two coins programs.
One is( select) coins. The other is farther down,(Coins Mode).
This is the program i run most of the time,The only modification i have done is to
remove the discrimination in the top R.H. corner.
I run Fast on,Deep off,Multi tones,I always leave trash density high on,and ground difficult on.
To get depth i run gain at 29,and if your sensitivity is in Auto, anytime it will not run above
20,i go to manual and run 26 to 29.If you don't you aren't getting any depth.
Best of luck,
LabradorBob

Just got my Minelab E Trac  on Friday, Read the manual 2x's. I went out today and gave it a try. Very noisy tones, Lots of number changes. Dug lots of deep targets. Mostly junk.
I know the learning curve is gonna help as I go out and dig. I appreciate all the posts on the e-trac they really help me to understand this technology.
I will keep you posted as I learn.

PS On the beach do I use beach setting or coin setting if i am looking for gold-silver coins only?

I would run in coins, and remember to clear out any discrimination in the top rh corner or you will miss silver dollars.
See if it runs stable,or if you get a lot of chattering go to beach mode.
also, pay attention to the sensitivity as it will control how deep you are going.
If it wont run over 16 in auto,i switch to manual and run 26 or higher to get some depth.

Thanks Bob,
I am pretty green with the Etrac too.  Been hunting with a Quattro for a few years, and got an Etac a few weeks ago.

Starting to get a handle on it.  Using a 5" Sunray helps.

Andy Sabich's book has been a big help too.

So far mostly Wheaties, but pulled from places I'd given up on.

Thanks again,
Mark

Ok 2 weeks in with new E Trac. The  Minelab book by Andy Sabisch is great. Learned a lot about the nuts and bolts.
Went back in my yard which I cleaned out with my DMX and Prizm V and found 3 more wheaties in just min's.
Went to beach and ran beach and coin modes found some pennies but did not have time to stay long. Hope to get out after the storms and low tides this week. I will post some pics soon.
BTW how do you get the corrosion off the pennies from my yard w/o destroying the penny?

On Wheaties I have been using some vaseline and a round toothpick.  Someone told me about it a couple of years ago, and it does a nice job on them.  When they are clean and wiped off they have a pretty decent sheen to them too.

If you want to keep the green patina on IHs I'd not use the vaseline, it cleans off the patina I guess.

Good Luck,
Mark
