Recently while hunting in a farmer's field with my Se Pro with the pro coil I observed the following in regard to false signals or churps as some would call them.. While searching in the cut corn field I ran the md at max sensitivity and rarely recieved any churps except when hitting a corn stalk pretty hard. For the most part the md ran smooth over the brown foliage while in this particular field. I moved to another field that had some short green grass and green weeds in it. The md would continually churp when brushing over the green moisture
filled plants. I still had the md sensitivity setting at max. I raised the coil and hit it and shook the detector, nothing happened until I lowered the coil and started sweeping the green foliage again. Lowering the sensitivity can reduce the effect.. What is it about the plants that cause the detector to respond? Not a big problem, just wondering if anyone knows............John in Va..

Hello John, my expirience with the Minelab SE was that it will sometimes give you ghost signals. I found it annoying but just give it a 2nd sweep and the ghost signal should be gone.

One thing you might try is making sure your coil wire is fastened along the shaft so it doesn't move. Moving coil wires are metal moving in the area of the coil and will cause false signals. Tie it with Velcro(tm) strips, wire ties or electrical tape at the coil and make sure the rest is wrapped fairly tight around the shaft. That sharp tap at the end of travel can make the wire move just enough to fool your detector.

That's indeed a great hint and often the case!  Smiley
