just curious,as to user friendliness,which would be the better to start water detecting with? the Excalibur or the Excal ll?

There's no apology necessary. You did nothing wrong. I moved it so your answers would not get lost in a post that has devolved from its original subject to something else. It was in the proper forum and could even have been left there but it's not fair to the person who started the topic to have replies to your post which changes the thread. It's not fair to you, either. It's a win for everyone.

I have an excal and like it.  I have been told the newer Excal II have more problems....
