As a gold detector, I find the GPX4500 a fantastic machine, I own a SD2200 and GP Extreme, but when it comes to working noisy ground and particularly finding small gold the 4500 walks all over the other two.
I recently went over a well worked patch in an extremely remote part of Western Australia, hoping I would find at least 10 grams to help cover my fuel costs, after a weeks effort I walked away with 5 oz of tiny gold that had been missed by numerous operators over many years.
One downfall is the 4500's susceptibility to EM interference from lightning, if there's an active storm within 30 miles or so, you may as well pack up and have a beer....perhaps not such a downfall after all.
cheers
Finda
