I love my E-trac, but I have nothing to compare it to. It is my first machine.

It's one of the top machines ever designed and built. If you can afford it, get it. KellyCo has some great deals packaged with the detector.

It qualifies for their Buy One, Get One offer where you can select a second metal detector from a list of special offers. A great way to have a nice backup machine or even an underwater machine. The KellyCo chick is a member here.

It would be unthinkable to sell one once you get used to using it. Used machines are probably not a good option for you. Go on. Treat yourself.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

I tend to agree with GD with the exception of Kellyco's BOGO only seems to allow the second detector to be a First TX or similar unit with added costs....

One place you can never get in trouble (other than the wife) is your own back yard.    Also, if you know anyone who has a house in one of the older districts of town, ask them if you can detect there (even better if it is rental property between tenants).

Look up Camp or Fort Logan. I have never been there, but have heard of many hunts over there. It's in Memorial Park I think.
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
