I was just packing my detector in my bag to go on holidays, and noticed small cracks on the coil where the screw connects to the lower stem, all in all 4 cracks, the coil is ca 6 months old and still under guarantee,Its just a matter of time before it breaks off, noticed the plastic is a hard type material, unlike the fisher coils which are softer type of plastic, any one else have or notice this problem with the Vflex coils....mike

Hard plastic doesn't hold up well against cold weather, Mike. One bump and that's a crack. You'll no doubt send it back and use the stock coils for a while.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

hi goldDigger,I have not used it at all in cold weather,I just find this type of plastic "brittel" I think thats how you spell it, to me its just a bad choice of plastic from minelab, looking at the fisher coils they are more robust,no question at all about the search quality of the Vflex coils, but they should do some thing about the plastics they use for there coils, there are many types of plastics from abs to pvc,ok my coil still  covered by minelab for 2 years, but I just find the quality of the plastic c..p....mikek
