Back again Paul
I want to buy a new coin detector , but Im strung-up on 4 models of Minelab . 2 that are suggested on chatline are ETrac and Explorer SE . when I inquired with my Australian dealer he said that ETrac was too new to evaluate but XTerra70 and Sovereign were just flying out the door cant keep up with the orders .  Got me stumped
                      Whats your opinion?

Out of those I would choose the Etrac or the SE.
They work on the The "Full Band spectrum" - I.E. they use 28 different frequencies between 1.5khz and 100khz at the same time.
You can change search frequencies on the Xterra and the sovereign but you have to change coils to suit.
Strange thing is I didn't think the sovereign was still current?
Maybe old stock.
The Etrac, although very expensive, also allows you to connect it to your P.C. so you can download/upload programs for it.
So, you can download a program you like the look of for it from the web to suit maybe beach searching, trashy soils etc etc.
Also there are a better choice of coils for the Etrac and the SE.
There are some superb Australian made aftermarket coils from "coiltek".
There is a fairly steep learning curve with something like an Etrac.... But! ...... you can still use it as a "switch on and go" machine on the standard factory settings.
It's been thoroughly evaluated here in the U.K. and it's coming out as a clear winner.
I'd suggest you take a look at

There's a LOT of information on there.
If you can get a good price on the Etrac I'd seriously look at it.
It will be my next detector (as soon as funds allow!)

Hi Tyler,
There's a program I put in the download area just for that purpose!
It's for the EX II but works equally as well on the XS.
