Hi Everyone, I just want to say the Musky is quite a machine. It is pretty basic but it will get the job done. It is very sensitive and I love the high pitch audio. It might be a bit heavy for some but it is worth it for the depth capability it has. The DD coil makes pinpointing very easy too. I feel that the price is reasonable and you can buy an optional 8" coil for it. One bad characteristic is it likes rusty bottle caps. A very good feature is a manual ground balance control. It seems to be well balanced also. It works well for relic hunting at 5Khz but has the sensitivity for small coins. If your not into a lot of bells and whistles and like it simple, the Musky can sure fill a niche for detectorists. It can be hipmounted too. Ok I hope this is helpful to everyone. God Bless.

Hello John , you are correct it is a great machine and you have some options on the search coils you can use . The 5 khz Advantage came out right after the 5 khz Relic Hawk was discontinued !! What a coincidence , I believe the Advantage is a modified reduced version of the Discontinued Relic Hawk . But , over the years I have been very impressed with the Excalibur series , They look kinda funny compared to most Metal  Detectors but who cares !! On the beach or off the beach they sure can find Jewelry and old coins......Thanks for your posts here John. Great Great
Best Regards......... Waveing......Eugene52

I have to agree. I bought a used Musky almost two years ago for $200 and was surprised how well this unit compares to other more expensive models. What I like the best about it is that you can really ramp up the disc (3:30-4:00 o'clock position) and still get decent depth on copper and silver. In this position the target is almost always a coin. I modded mine so the control housing is under the armrest. I also added a velcro strap to the arm cup. In my opinion $200 well spent. One thing I have'nt done with it yet is take it on one of our relic hunts as I mainly use the Shadow X5 for that. Trying to figure out how to add a momentary coincheck button on it so I can run low disc but still be able to just push a button or trigger to have it check at a higher disc just like the Shadows.
Happy Hunting, Mike in NJ

Yes,  a great detector had two of them in the past. Hopefully have another at the end of this month.
I have started a repository of Musketeer information, I believe it is the largest currently on the internet for useful information.

I do see them up for auction on UK ebay every few weeks. There one on there now.
Not many will part with them as they are  excellent machines.
