Ha hey everyone... my first post here

I think with technology and communication as it is and the bounty of info out there, if someone buys anything because of dealer or advertisement hype and is disappointed... that's their own fault. We're all guilty of impulsive purchases at some point but... research, research, research and you will not get burned (as much) companies just want to make $$$ it is their purpose and competition is fierce. like it? no. understand to a degree? yes.

on the other hand... my first detector was bought on impulse at a pawnshop because of a TV commercial the night before... got me a pristine Whites Classic III w/950 coil for $40... I took it to a Whites dealer (where it was originally sold) and he offered $100 for it... HAHAHA I still have it  Grin

Minelab increasing their price that much IS scary for sure! does that mean my minelabs are worth more now LOL

Need not greed  has always been a good business motto to follow.  when i bought my baracuda it cost me near 2 grand.  That price was small compared to what I have pulled out of the water with it.  My fiorst two weeks of using it paid the cost of the machine its been working for free for the last four years

Hi zinckerdean I don't feel that any detector holds it's price more than any other brand when your dealing with the better brands in the UK ,Last week i saw a sovereign going for ?350.00 = $563.50  , it seems that they get to a point and thats as far as they fall

Never even seen the Baracuda detector.I did hear that they went out of business a few years ago.
How would you compare it to a sovereign other than being waterproof?

I have read the word greed several times in this thread. So why do I think oil companies every time I read that word?

A minelab machine I bought a while ago within 6 months went from ?385.00=$625.89c to ?549.00=$892.50, and Quite frankly
there are better options out there, Not to mention their verbal Assasination of other makers products, and their efforts to raise
the import duty on the U.S. Brands that come in to Australia, I've spent more than $12,000 on their products, But I will never
allow another one of their products through my front door again, Those Mafia style Tactics won't make me cower down to them.
And as an Australian Citizen I was very Proud of them until all this and now i find them an Embaressment.
Which is also why i changed my user name,

I agree but Minelab products as far as the Sd series are top notch.
For the most part they do as advertised.
If companies like OKM and Knokta and others produced products that did what they say,Minelab and others would have real competion but they can't so they don't and Minelab knows that.
