MikeK, that's true of any Double D coil though. Not just of Minelab. My Minelab has a concentric coil and I can pinpoint perfectly. The only time I have trouble is on a nail, small wire or hairpin. They give an odd double blip which means I have to choose which is the source.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

yes your right with the double blip, the problem is the small coins, end up diging a massive hole just for a euro 10cent,it should not be nesseray, but geting to like the detector, still learning, also with nickel coins like the old deutsche marks ect, weak signal, mostly around the 20 on the x-terra,any way cut a long story short I just got back from to nights hunt, and yes gold,,,and silver,,,nice 585 (14k) ca 3.5 to 4gram wedding ring silver hippy ring with the anti nuke symbole, and the normal run of the mill coins, starting to like this x-terra baby....on my second beer cheers mate,(will post pics when the wifes back from holland with my camra)

Can you either borrow or rent a concentric coil for the machine? Have you had much experience with the Double D coil?

It took a hunting buddy of mine weeks to master his Minelab Excalibur Double D coil pattern. He's got it down to a science now.
