Hello all,  I just recently obtained an Excalibur 1000.  I also got the ear training cd and listened to it before using the xcal.  My problem is while air testing to check tone, some of my gold doesnt give any signal at all.  I have a very nice 14k diamond tennis bracelet and another 14k plain gold bracelet.  No signal from either.  All the 14k and 10k rings are no problem.  Loud.  All bracelets and neck chains are null.  I have changed sens settings and also disc setting with no change.  Am i missing something with the settings on excal or am i just going to miss all the lost bracelets ?  Thanks and happy hunting!

LOL!  Bracelets are hard items for sure.

NO Discim!

Try to detect them when there bunched up in a pile.   Better , Eaaa?

A ring of the same gold type and weight will be detected with no problems.

I think the individual links of the chains cancel out each other.

Newby here... just asking.....  is this a problem with the brand of MD and not a general MD issue?

Well Mate my sovereign was my pride and joy, until i went my mates house and he got out a fine gold chain
and for a week after I keep trying to make it see fine things and because of the Iron mask i could'nt turn the Sensitivity up
and being in the UK with over 3000 yrs of metal working there's to much iron for it to cope with so i had to turn the gain down
and with low gain it just could'nt see those things,

Also multi frequency machines don't see fine things as well as a single frequency machine does

Same with the Quattro, I've had many a debate on another forum which i wont mention about this problem with gold
Basically your so very right the minelabs are a detector of there own far as weeding out silver hammies etc .
But allot of detectorists will argue that the gold needs to be in the ground.
Well I've done these tests digging holes and planting gold, and the quattro is just not good with gold.
Then you get a reply saying it needs to be in the ground a number of years.
OK how many years I'm been told i cant find any modern lost gold lol
My whites DFX standard coil is good when set up correctly, even my Whites 1V picks it up, My C-Scop struggles but there again your talking of a late 70s early 80s detector non motion, but even that tops my Quattro.
I was wondering if it may work better with a sef coil, because the one I'm using is the standard coil.

All the best good subject

Dave, I spent ?000 on coils and they came up the worst others will tell you they are great but I bought 8 coils for my Sovereign
and the best ones where the coiltek, The main reason being that Coiltek use to make all the coils for minelab so they have
the proper tune up specs for the machines and the other crowd have only got them by trial and error and thats why it took them
3 years to develop them, Coiltek still have a good relationship with Minelab and as Coiltek are Australian also you will get
the same Quality products, Most field testers get sent a few coils to try, I bought 8 after market coils and 2 minelab coils
and that brand to which you are refering don't even come close to Minelabs own products all in all I spent over ?1200.00
or $16-$1800s of my own money because i got fed up with the lies and media Hype and it was the only way to get to the truth
and at the end i gave those coils (that brand) away because i could charge anyone for them because of what i now know,
and I have seen 100s of them going to be distroyed because of their failure rate, I hope this helps, Please don't
be fooled and get sucked in by these popular field testers because they would never write a bad report because if they did
then they would never get any freebees or anymore work and they would be out of a job and God help them if they had to work
for a living but until the honesty rate goes up then you and I will always get our fingers burnt

A cheap PI running fast enough on the Sample Delay will find raw gold.

The chains elude them too some times .

I'm sure the individual links cancel out each other unless bunch together.

Homie i did'nt know that bit about the links, My machines don't have trouble with that due to their design, but a massive
amount of machines won't see'em, Thanks for that info
