I have just obtained one of these detectors, its in very nice condition and has the meter mounted on top of the rod handle. This also is my 1st. Minelab detector purchase & from the fine comments I've read on the web for this machine, I think I'm going to be very glad I found one.

Thanks for this guide, and if you ever return here, please do PM me and I sure would appreciate any tech data and advice and information that you could give me on the Minelab Sov XS.

I am getting re-interested in detecting as I near retirement age, and I keep going back to the Sovereigns even though I have gotten a Whites machine most recently. Something about the scaling and tones that draws me back...

Let me know if you have additional questions. I have two machines, a XS and and a XS2. I have broken and repaired my machines a number of times, have experimented with meters, power supply repairs, different coils. If  I  have any information that can help, let me know.

I just found tonight that another site that I used to contribute to, Sovereignmods, is no longer active. I was disappointed to see this, as there are still many Sovereign fans out there I am sure. I may have old hardcopy articles from that site that I can share.
